Job Title: OH & Safety Coordinator

Contract: Full time (3 months’ probation)

Working hours: Fortnightly 88hours. Should be willing to work long hours (OT) and be available on-call

Reporting to: Engineering Manager

 

Purpose:

 

• Increase both top and bottom line results of the transport and logistics company through effective leadership of the team, implementation of set policies and procedures and through sourcing new clients.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible to the General Manager Carpenters Shipping PNG (CSA) for the effective implementation of services offered to clients that will achieve predetermined targets and budgets for the PNG Trades.

• Your products will be primarily transport services, self-storage facilities and container sales to businesses in Papua New Guinea.

• Ensure an effective asset maintenance program is followed to protect the value of all assets for as long as possible and to ensure the effective operation of the assets (vehicles).

• Maintain effective reporting standards on the day-to-day performance of trades in PNG, as well as current regional developments.

• You will ensure your team are well trained in all areas of the operations ensuring a safe a secure work place for all staff.

• Assist in the preparation of regional sales budgets and sales plans.

• Prepare statistical reports as required

• Building and maintaining working relationships at multiple levels with a broad range of clients

• Providing timely quotations to fulfil clients’ needs and requirements with a focus on up-selling complementing products

• Generate new business opportunities through effective marketing programs and through the day to day promotion of the business.

• Any other functions as directed by the GM or Directors.

 

Technical Skills and Experience Required

• A strong and detailed background in transport operations management, whereby all aspects of the operations have been in your control including day to day operations, financial management, staff management, business development and growth.

• A solid knowledge of trucking, maintenance and basic repair.

• Must be a team player

• An ability to generate new business as well as manage ongoing client relationships

• Strong proficiency in computer skills.

• Logical and analytical thinker.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work and contribute positively in a team environment.

• Self-motivated with ability to plan and co-ordinate workflows and performance effectively and without supervision.

• Past experience working in a multi cultural environment strongly preferred

• Ability to meet deadlines
