Job Title: Lab Technician

Company: Coconut Products

Department: Quality Control

Reports to: Mill Operations Manager

Primary objective of the job:

This position is responsible for conducting chemical analysis of water treatment plants and coconut oil

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor to ensure compliance of quality standards are maintained

  • Oversee, monitor and schedule Lab analysts and Lab Sampler work.

  • Testing oil samples for FFA/Color

  • Test total residual oil in cake (meal)

  • Test Moisture for cake (meal)

  • Organise and systematically monitor the quality control parameters for crude coconut oil extraction and provide feedback to production maintenance team for adjustments of process machinery.

  • Collect, compile reports and analyze production data.

  • Monitoring of production targets to maintain quality while minimizing losses.

  • Discuss ways to improve production quality through control measures

  • Mini-extraction of random copra to establish oil ratio to estimate oil tonnage

Academic qualifications and experience required for job:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Technology or Chemistry

  • With 1 to 2 years work experience

  • Experience in testing, quality inspection and auditing

  • Strong computer skills and good understanding of laboratory information systems and automated laboratory equipment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
