Job Title:    Workshop Manager/Controller

Reports to:    National Service and Panel Manager

 

 

General Purpose

A workshop controller is responsible for ensuring all work to vehicles in their garage (usually within a dealership) is carried out appropriately. This involves assigning work to vehicle technicians. The workshop controller will also liaise with service departments within a dealership, for example, and will be on hand to answer queries from other departments regarding repairs, maintenance etc.

  • Previous experience within the automotive industry, particularly workshop control or technician

  • Ability to communicate well with customers and colleagues across different departments, both face-to-face and via email

  • Motivated and able to motivate others

  • Leadership and ability to delegate

  • Ability to work under pressure

 

 

Education and Training

To be a workshop controller, you should have a full driving licence, experience in a dealership, & have experience of working as a fully qualified technicia.

 

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • People management skills

  • Experience in light vehicle automotive

  • Diesel mechanic

  • Current driver’s License

  • Hydraulics

  • Time management

  • Computer Literacy

  • Heavy vehicle knowledge

  • Helpful skills for a workshop manager include strong leadership, situational awareness, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a time-sensitive environment.

Working Conditions

This job requires the candidate to work the normal 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday hours and outside of the normal hours. The candidate must be flexible to work anytime when required
