Job Title:  Plantation Manager

Reports to:  Plantation Division Manager


General Purpose


The Plantation Manager will be responsible to work closely with the
Plantation Division Manager on matters related to the plantation(s) under
his management. To plan, organize and direct all activities of workers within
that area.

 


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 

  • Taking directions from Managers to meet production objectives.

  • Manage the care of balsa nurseries and replanting of balsa trees

  • Manage the care of coconut plantations, preventing diseases and maintaining healthy growth.

  • Organizes and supervises transportation of Copra, cocoa

  • Determines number and kind of workers needed to perform required work, and schedules activities.

  • Observes workers to detect inefficient and unsafe work procedures or identify problems, and initiates actions to correct improper procedure or solve problem.

  • Issues tools and machinery, ladders or containers to workers and collects them at end of a workday.

  • Prepares time and production reports, such as plantation conditions, amount of copra/cocoa harvested, machinery breakdowns, and labour problems.

  • Trains workers in methods of field work and safety regulations, and brief them on identifying characteristic of insects and diseases.

  • Inspects crops and fields to determine maturity, yield, infestation or work requirements, such as cultivating, spraying, weeding or harvesting.

  • Investigates grievances and settles disputes to maintain harmony among worker

 


Education and Training

 

  • Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Agriculture

 


Knowledge and Experience

​

  • Experience and knowledge in inter-cropping coconuts with other high yield cash crops, such as cocoa.

  • At least 2 years experience in the related field is required for this position.

  • Knowledge in production operations

  • Knowledge in plant physiology, plant nutrition and plant nutrient deficiency diagnosis

  • Knowledge in government regulations and compliance

  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Effective organizational ability

  • Leadership and people management skills

  • Oral and written communication skills
