Job Title:   Motor Vehicle Mechanic

General Purpose

The Heavy Truck Mechanic maintains heavy equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, such as correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping records.

 

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.

  • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc...

  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.

  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.

  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and system

 

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • High school diploma or similar.

  • Certification as a heavy equipment mechanic.

  • Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.

  • Understanding of computer testing technologies.

  • Ability to lift heavy machinery.

  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.

  • Ability to work after-hours if required.

  • Good communication skills.

 

 

Core Competencies

Heavy Truck Mechanics must develop skills in areas like problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail. Mechanics don't need a postsecondary degree, but many complete non-degree training programs at a technical school. Auto mechanics need dexterity to complete their jobs.

Working Conditions

This job requires the candidate to work the normal 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday hours and outside of the normal hours. The candidate must be flexible to work anytime when required
