Job Title:     IT Infrastructure Engineer

Reports to:          IT Infrastructure Team Lead or Technical Services Manager

General Purpose

The primary function of the Infrastructure Engineer is to ensure the timely provision of ICT services to customers as and when required once a job is logged. This role provides analysis, development, and operational support of servers, storage, virtualization, and networking solutions, including defining, analyzing, creating, and supporting new services or solutions, modification and development of new functionality (either as enhancements or as green-field development within an infrastructure ecosystem), system integration, testing, maintenance, monitoring, and operational oversight of assigned solutions and services, independently or in cooperation with other technology teams, to advance business objectives.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to customers to resolve all assigned service requests and incidents within the SLA

  • Provide inhouse ICT infrastructure support.

  • Plan and lead implementation of small to enterprise IT Infrastructure solutions

  • Plan, develop, manage monitor and review IT Infrastructure team training plans.

  • Provide expert advice on enterprise systems and architecture

  • Liaise with customers and provide advice on best practice in design and architecture

  • Liaise with vendors and third parties where required as required for the resolution of incidents and problems.

  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for the IT Infrastructure team.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant IT discipline.

  • Microsoft MCP/MCSE Certified or equivalent

  • Office365 Certified or equivalent

  • Azure Cloud Certified or equivalent

  • VMware VCP Certified or equivalent

  • ITIL Certified or equivalent

  • HPE Server Certified or equivalent

  • HPE Storage Certified or equivalent

  • Dell Storage Certified or equivalent

  • Other Vendor Specific Certification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Over 5 years in the IT industry with 3 years in systems/network administration role.

  • Sound technical acumen and the ability to manage the day-to-day delivery of services through third party providers.

  • A sound knowledge of service management principles and processes and relevant experience in the practical application of service management processes (ITIL) in the delivery of ICT Infrastructure services.

  • Experience with a broad range of relevant technologies and systems including MS Server OS, Active Directory, Azure Cloud Services, Office365, HPE server & storage hardware, Database and Application Servers, and Virtualization
